Hello!

Welcome to 4th Grade at Spring Valley Elementary!  In fourth grade we cover many different topics to get students excited about learning! In reading, students practice their fluency skills, learn about different genres, and explore various phonics and grammar skills. In writing, students practice expressing their creativity by writing personal narratives, informational stories, opinion stories, and fictional narratives. In science, students complete different experiments that teach them about the environment around them. They also get to practice creating circuits, and research other topics about our world. In social studies, students learn about the state of Kansas, and about all of the regions that make up the United States. In math, students explore various strategies for solving multi-digit problems in the areas of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. They also learn different skills that involve fractions and decimals, as well as practice their mental math skills through fact fluency.
