Flu season is upon us! What is Influenza? This disease attacks the respiratory tract (nose, throat, and lungs). Flu symptoms include fever, headache, muscle aches, and extreme tiredness. Places that may be contaminated in your home include telephones, appliances, faucets, light switches, door handles, and TV/game remotes.
Please remember that your student must stay home if their temperature is 100.0 degrees or more. Students must stay home until fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication. Students with vomiting or diarrhea must be kept home until vomit/diarrhea free for 24 hours as well. If your child seems tired, pale, has little appetite, is not tolerating solid foods, and is generally “not him/herself”, please do not send him/her to school. Some viral illnesses may take longer than a day before your child is well enough to return to school.
Tips to avoid contracting the flu:
- consider vaccination
- frequent hand washing
- cough/sneeze into elbow
- disinfect common objects at home and school
- and get plenty of rest and plenty of water.
